Oriental, Conventional and Non-conventional learning programmes in India

Oriental:

Temples were also the centres of learning and took an interest in the promotion of knowledge of our ancient system. Students went to viharas and universities for higher knowledge. ... Further, they started to preserve the ancient knowledge and education system, information, culture.

Conventional:

It refers to within a brick-and-mortar classroom facility. These instructors initiate discussions in the classroom and focus exclusively on knowing content in textbooks and notes. It is formal education.

 

Characteristics:

1.    Fixed time in campus

2.    Fixed Curriculum

3.    Teacher centred

4.    Assessment through Traditional way.

5.    Learnig through listing and observation

6.    Attendence is mandatory 

 

Non-conventional:

The education system in which teaching-learning activities is offered other than the on-campus with fixed time classrooms. It is non-formal education.

Characteristics:

1.    No fixed time and curriculum

2.    Learner centered

3.    Linked to employment

4.    Experiential and experimental learning

5.    Focus on quality

6.    Continuous learning
